Collected Poems of W.B. Yeats Richard J. Finneran (Editor)
Feb/Mar
2006 - I picked this up after hearing some Yeats read on
NPR's "Writer's Almanac" by Gerrison Keeler. Some
of the biographical information about Yeats, combined with
the short bits that were read, seemed to indicate this was
one poet I should check out.
This was probably the first time I ever became interested
in a Western poet so deeply, and I genuinely enjoyed reading
his work - even if some of the historical context was lost
on me.
I found myself marking many of his poems for later review
- much more than usual. It just seemed like so much stuff
was worth additional reflection. This is another book that
you can't just read and move on from. Since the breadth
and depth of his work goes beyond this one volume, I'd be
interested in just about anything else from this writier.
