Public Memory and WWII

WW2 Soldier

Phil Gladfelter, of Benton PA, is doing some impressive work preserving memories of historical events by interviewing WWII veterans and other old timers about their life stories. Phil records these stories and creates a customized transcript and audio copy of the interview, combined with photos and other documents supplied by the family. These can be given as gifts or done simply as a family memento to pass down through the ages.

I find Phil’s work interesting because it has implications for shaping public memory of WWII and other events. It is a valuable service and could lead to many discoveries about our past. I have consulted with Phil on recording techniques and equipment for conducting his personal and telephone interviews. This has included the use of portable gear, microphone setup, signal processing and editing. For more info, contact: pglat_1958@epix.net
