If you look it up in most dictionaries, you won't
find it... yet it seems to almost define itself. Until recently,
the question "What is Mindspeak" would have been only
slightly difficult to explain. After some recent Internet research,
it appears that the word is even more complex than I thought. Listed
below are facts about the name and its usage -- past, present and
future -- as they relate to me and my music. In the future I will
be posting more information about the concept.
"Mindspeak" defined
NOTE: Mindspeak is spelled and pronounced as one word
so not to be confused with "Mind's Peak". MINDSPEAK =
An organization (The Mindspeak Society - more on
this to come)
Mindspeak (one word) - 1. the impulse that drives
humankind to create. 2. the fruition of humankinds' creative energy
and mental imaging into material expression (reality) 3. the phenomenon
of expression 4. the psychology behind art as defined by Jeremy
J. dePrisco, Founder & Director.
Mindspeak is the need for man to express himself --
the term is merely a way to quantify this need. - Jeremy dePrisco

Jeremy dePrisco
In the eyes of the public, Jeremy dePrisco's solo performing act
has become associated with the term "Mindspeak". Also,
in 1995, Jeremy created a short lived organization known as The
Mindspeak Society. Jeremy's solo recording/performing project will
still exist under the name "Mindspeak", and MINDSPEAK
is his DBA in Pennsylvania. The Mindspeak Society was a separate
entity, registered as a non-profit arts collective in PA, which
has since disbanded.
As early as 1990, the concept of "Mindspeak"
was associated Jeremy's music. It was the conceptual whole that
tied it together. Since then, "Mindspeak" has developed
as the essential psychology behind art. "Mindspeak" involves
the subtle connections between science, the mind, consciousness
and the creative process -- as well as the spiritual side of art.
As time went on, Jeremy began to further define the
"Mindspeak" concept and noticed how other people dealt
with their need to create. He found that some people were similar
in their methods, others, completely different. The one unifying
factor was that they all felt that NEED to create.
"Music from the Heart, Soul
& Mind"
Many copyrights held by Jeremy J. dePrisco have contained the term
"Mindspeak" as a designation for the music itself. These
collections have been registered consecutively as MINDSPEAK, MINDSPEAK
II, MINDSPEAK III... etc. with subtitled distinctions for each collection.
These collections are not to be confused with property of the organization
and are copyrights owned exclusively by Jeremy J. dePrisco. Presently
on file at the Library of Congress are:
MINDSPEAK
MINDSPEAK II - DEEP INSIDE
MINDSPEAK III - UNKNOWINGLY SAID
MINDSPEAK IV - BEHIND THE WALLS
MINDSPEAK V - THE NEW BEGINNING
MINDSPEAK VI - IN BLOOM
MINDSPEAK VII - WINTER SKYE
MINDSPEAK VIII - THE QUEST
MINDSPEAK IX - ART & SOCIETY
MINDSPEAK X - THE MIDDLE OF TIME
Much like the terms rock, jazz and folk, "Mindspeak"
was a classification of music based on certain unifying philosophical
and technical factors. Much like Existentialism and Realism, Mindspeak
is a psychological pigeonhole for art.
The following Spontaneous poem by George Kovach was
written at my request (and a $5 fee) by taking each letter of the
word and starting a line of verse. The poem can actually be reversed
from the bottom up, as well as read straight from the top.
MINDSPEAK
May ye walk into
the center of my head.
Inside where only
a legend of life doth thread.
Now unto the Knowledge
Known unto man.
Daily the thoughts
drift like sand.
Subtle not the brain
is to be!
Playing a game between
myth... reality... and fantasy.
Ego... not a must.
As life soon journeys
on!
Kindred unto a spirit
that allows an image to go beyond!
