Been listening to lots of Arabian music. Stuff from Syria too. Islamic studies continue with my reading. Rumi still fascinates. College studies in image restoration taking up some more of my time.

Waiting for Bulu Suite - Bulu called me on short notice today (as usual) and said he was going to stop by. That basically blew most of my afternoon because I didn't have an exact time (Bengali time is rarely exact, as they say). So since I couldn't get too involved in anything, I dabbled with the softsynth some more (hoping I could jam with Bulu on them). So I came up with a few ditties, displayed here as a suite of three. As it turns out, Bulu never showed, and we had to get on the road to Lewisburg for Audra's mystery theatre night…

Overall I am still feeling very prolific with this, but some of my biggest struggle is: Are these pieces truly inspired by the play, or by what’s going on around me? Both? Probably. My rather sudden emergence into Islamic writings, combined with my perennial study of Sufi poetry, Joseph Campbell (Ebay is evil) and other elements of late, are all working their way in. So I guess I’m saying I am enjoying the process.

While working on (one song) on 2/4/06, at 8:26 pm there was a lightning strike near our house in which I could see the blue light in the studio, followed very shortly after by a loud BOOM. I immediately did a "duck and cover" and my heart jumped out of my chest. The power stayed on, and no one was harmed.
