Vinyl
Alex was starting a new job as a record buyer. His friends in Portland owned Mississippi Records & Repair, a vintage record store. They wanted to stock the place with some quality folk, blues, roots and international music. On the trip down, Alex had lucked out with a major record purchase in Seattle from a guy who used to run a radio show.

The store was also a repair shop for vintage tube and analog gear piled on large wooden shelving behind the counter. There was even a working turntable in the window, which could be used to preview records.

It was a small place, but I don't know when I last saw that much vinyl. I could not believe the enthusiasm people had for the stuff. We visited the store on both the southbound and northbound journeys through Oregon, and both times the place had a steady stream of customers.

I would give you a web address if I could, but the owners hate the Internet.
