Blue
Buddha Records is a small, modest "boutique" label
that specializes in short runs (up to 500 pieces) of independent
music. Blue Buddha came about when I was putting together my
Homegrown Music 1997 release, and was continued with the release
of MANDALA,
Cadillacs & Tarantulas
and most recently Bloomsburg
to Bangladesh. In most cases, the music released on Blue
Buddha is music I have written, and I own the masters. As we
move forward, there may be some releases of music by other artists.
Blue Buddha Records is a record company, but not in the traditional
sense. Not in the hyped up marketing sense, and certainly not
in the corporate sense. I am currently looking into other ways
to release and record my music. In particular a cover CD, which
involves a lot more administration than Blue Buddha is equipped
for right now. Interested parties should Contact

The name...
So where did I get the name? It is loosely related to the reference
to blue-faced Lord Vajra Heruka in the Tibetan Book of the Dead
that appears on the Ninth Day of the Fierce Deity Reality Between.
The Sanskrit term Heruka means "powerful, aggressive
hero figure." There are also various references to blue
light in other passages. Actually, it has been years since I
first read that particular text, and it is curious that the
idea came to me without actually being in the middle of it.
I encourage the reader to explore the Tibetan Book of the Dead.
It can be an uplifting source, despite the title.
